We'll explore

If you enjoyed Composition I, you will love Composition II. We will pick up where we ended with the first six challenges. Building on your current understanding and playing with more ‘rules’.

In Composition I you created images using the rules of composition where story was secondary. In these new challenges you will be  taking  these “rules” to the next level by pairing them with specific story challenges.

For example in the first challenge you will be asked to create an image where the viewer is left feeling uneasy by using a creative point of view with a Dutch angle.

By mastering the rules of composition you will be able to create images with maximum emotional impact.

SKILLS GAINED

We will pair specific composition techniques to illicit specific emotional responses from the viewer

  • Dutch angle + POV
  • Repetition or Patterns
  • Framing / Sub-Framing
  • Dirty Edges or Foreground Interest
  • Isolated Color
  • Balance

Through this exploration you will gain the following skills:

  • Understand how composition ‘rules’ work together
  • See how composition can support your story
  • Be able to create images with depth and visual interest
