I developed my encaustic original artwork to showcase the toys that I love.
The multi stage process begins by mounting my original photography to a wood panel using archival glue. Then I will often add another layer of the photo (such as the subject) using 2-ply archival matboard to stand this area away from the background a few millimeters. Then I paint the surface with encaustic medium (beeswax and damar resin as a hardener) and fuse them together through a heat process.
The line between painting and photography is furthered blurred by either adding pan pastels to the surface of the photo or adding flourishes of oil paint to the wax surface. The final effect is a painterly invitation into a fantasy world where the toys are alive.
Turn around on encaustic orders is generally two weeks. If you need a piece by a specific date, please let me know in your order.
