That quote captures the spirit behind my 2027 toy photography calendar.
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, water and boats have always been part of my story. A tanker on the horizon, a ferry crossing the strait, a kayak slipping through still water —- each one carries the promise of adventure, a moment of solitude or maybe a small mishap worth laughing about later.
For 14 years, toy photography has been my way of exploring that world on a smaller, more intimate scale. I love building tiny scenes that tell stories rooted in memory, imagination and possibility. My photography also connects me to a community of photographers and students who share that same curiosity. Teaching others has been one of the richest parts of my creative journey.
These images were built around that spirit. As you turn each page consider each image an invitation to notice the boats and water around you. Explore, have adventures, and leave a few safe harbors of your own.
