The Everyday Life
How can a small plastic figure, a toy, capture profound existential questions? Kristina Alexanderson, a Swedish still-life photographer, invites viewers into a world where toys become vessels for exploring identity, power, and the poetry of the everyday.
In this artist talk, Kristina takes us on a journey through her photographic practice, where she uses humor, precision, and playfulness to examine what it means to be human—through figures that would otherwise remain silent. Drawing from her two photographic projects, The Ordinary Life (of a Stormtrooper) (2011–2013) and Reflections on a Princess (2017). Through her work she will reveal how photography can create new perspectives on time, space, and relationships.
You will get a presentation of her work with toys as subjects. And Kristina will share insights into her artistic process and the recurring themes in her images:
– Identity and existential questions – Who am I in relation to you?
– Power and rights – can photography highlight societal structures?
– The ordinary life –small, modest, often overlooked.
Whether you’re a photographer yourself, passionate about visual storytelling, or simply looking for inspiration from a unique possibility. This talk is one you won’t want to miss!
